Hanie headed to Denver to backup Manning

Former Chicago Bears backup quarterback, Caleb Hanie, has agreed to a 2-year deal with the Denver Broncos.  This coming after a season with the Bears where he completed just 50% of his passes for 613 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions for a quarterback rating of 41.8.  These numbers coming after Jay Cutler was injured in week 10.  After proving that there was no real number 2 quarterback on the roster, the Bears wet out and signed Jason Campbell to the position this free agency period, effectively removing Hanie from the roster.

Hanie could not have landed in a better position.  This move coming just a week after Tim Tebow was traded to the New York Jets.  He will have the chance to win the number 2 spot behind one of the greatest to ever play the position.  Without the pressure of the 3rd largest media market and learning from a future Hall-of-Famer will be monumental for Hanie.  I was one of the people who was highly critical in his time as a Bear, and rightly so, but I am glad to see he has found a place to play where he can grow and improve his game.
