Barkley claims Jordan only hires “yes” men
During a call into the Waddle & Silvy Show on ESPN 1000, NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley made some interesting assertions about Michael Jordan. He claims that Jordan, himself a Hall of Famer, and owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, is running the team into the ground because he has surrounded himself with people who will never disagree with him. He has complete control of basketball moves and is the primary talent evaluator. Just take a look at Charlotte’s record (4-29) and make up your own mind if Jordan has created a team full of talent.
“I think the biggest problem has been I don’t know if he has hired enough people around him who he will listen to,” Barkley said. “One thing about being famous is the people around you, you pay all their bills so they very rarely disagree with you because they want you to pick up the check. They want to fly around on your private jet so they never disagree with you. I don’t think Michael has hired enough people around him who will disagree.”
Barkley has confronted Jordan in the past, questioning some of his player evaluations. ”I said ‘Michael, nobody wants to disagree with you. You are such a powerful personality nobody, especially your flunkies as I call them, the flunkies are never going to disagree with you.’”
If Jordan is ever going to become a successful owner and make the Bobcats contenders, he is going to have to get used to hearing “NO!” No team, regardless of sport, has ever risen to the top without give and take in the front office. Jordan needs to bring in real talent evaluators that will tell him when he wrong; and he better listen. Charlotte is a disgrace to the NBA, and it all starts with him.

It would be tough telling MJ that he’s wrong when it comes to basketball….weird position to be in.
Even if someone did tell Jordan he was wrong , he wouldn’t believe them because he’s the best player ever
MJ = best basketball player of all time AND one of the worst GMs of all time. It seems like most of the greats never make good coaches or GMs, no matter the sport.
ever hear of Bill Russell???
Um, were you paying attention during the lockout? Jordan was the hardest of the hard-liners, and did more to shorten the season and threaten the league’s existence in 2011-12 than any other individual. Do you think that just might have a little to do with the relative effort of the players on the roster?
Does the name Kwame Brown ring a bell, Micheal Jordon knows nothing about scouting true basketball talent ,
because he was a good player does not mean he knows the business side of basketball. Abe Pollin proved that when he fired him. Stick to golf Micheal you suck less at t hat than being a basketball owner!!!!
Sir Chuck is just angry that he don’t score as much free pussy as MJ does.
I don’t know if it’s that Jordan just hires yes men…. I think it’s more that he doesn’t listen to anyone but himself. He thinks he knows more than anyone else when it comes to basketball. He’s perfectly fine letting his subordinates handle the day to day operations of running a business, but when it comes to drafting/trading issues, he has to have the final say. Doesn’t matter who he hires…yes men, or no men, he’ll never be a success as owner. His ego is too big to admit he needs help.
