Daniel Carcillo Suspended Indefinitely For Brutal Hit
Chicago Blackhawks winger, Daniel Carcillo, has been suspended indefinitely for a hit he laid on Tom Gilbert, a defenseman for the Edmonton Oilers. After dumping the puck and giving chase with Gilbert, Carcillo takes his eye off the puck and is only interested in hurting the defenseman. I was excited when the Blackhawks signed Carcillo because I like his attitude. He is a bruiser who stands up for his team and is willing to put his body on the line to do so. But this is too much. He blatantly slammed a defenseless player into the boards and his suspension is well deserved. I am all for players being physical in hockey and I know hockey is a contact sport, but there is a line and Carcillo clearly crossed it. Not only did he hurt Gilbert, and himself on the play, his suspension will be a rough blow to a team that has been surging and will miss him on the ice.
